Amika Scalp Products

It's that time of year again. Cold weather equals dry skin all over the body including the scalp. This occurs when your skin looses too much moisture. In the fall/winter the humidity in the air drops and there is less moisture. Also with the heat blasting and hot showers our skin is extra dry. It's time for a reset. Read on to learn how to go from flaky, dry and dull to a healthy scalp and luscious locks with these 6 simple steps.

Amika Reset Pink Charcoal Scalp Cleansing Oil

Step # 1 - Exfoliate

Exfoliating regularly is necessary to unclog your hair follicles, stimulate circulation and reduce inflammation. Which is necessary for healthy hair growth. I recommend exfoliating your scalp with Amika Reset Pink Charcoal Scalp Cleansing Oil. A pre-shampoo scalp treatment that detoxifies and invigorates to encourage a balanced, healthy scalp. It draws out impurities and removes product build-up, without stripping away essential oils. This treatment can be done once a week or as needed. If you have colored hair that tends to fade quick like reds and vivids I recommend going longer between treatments. Do every other week or once a month to avoid unwanted fading. Step # 2 - Shampoo

After your exfoliating treatment, rinse and use a clarifying shampoo. I recommend Amika's Reset Clarifying Gel Shampoo. It is a unique aerosol gel-to-foam shampoo that rids hair of oil, dirt, odor and sweat while replenishing moisture and reviving volume. It removes build up without over stripping, maintaining your hair's natural oils. (Some clarifying shampoos are stronger than others.) The natural oils and proteins in your hair keeps your scalp healthy and provides healthy hair growth. To avoid over washing, wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week instead of everyday. Step # 3 - Scalp Massage

I do a scalp massage every time I shampoo my hair using a silicone scalp brush. Using a scalp brush is relaxing and is more effective than just using your fingers. Use by doing small circular movements to make your way around your head. I typically start at the top of my head and make my way down to the bottom. Massaging your scalp not only removes build up but also improves blood flood which brings oxygen and nutrients to your scalp which promotes hair growth.

Step # 4 - Conditioner

I recommend Amika's Reset Cooling Gel Conditioner after doing an exfoliating treatment because it is light enough that you can put it on your scalp without worrying about your hair being weighed down or greasy like other conditioners. It's a unique gel formula that delivers hydration without the weight. Enriched with refreshing menthol, this formula soothes the scalp and restores moisture balance. Make sure to apply from roots to ends for maximum benefits. Click here to buy Amika's Reset Cooling Gel Conditioner.

Step # 5 - Don't Go To Bed With Wet Hair

I find it is best to wash your hair in the morning to set and style your hair. If you wash your hair at night you need to dry it before going to bed. Going to bed with wet hair will not only creates a wonky style it is also damaging. Your hair is the most fragile when it is wet, meaning it is more prone to breakage. Also your roots take the longest to dry and sleeping on your hair makes drying take even longer. Too much moisture at the roots causes your hair to get oilier quicker and is the perfect environment for dandruff to form

Step # 6 - Collagen Supplements

I recommend trying collagen powder. Most brands you only added one scoop a day to your water and they have all different favors. Boosting your bodies collagen production will improve your hair, skin and nails. Collagen is a primary source of amino acids that help produce keratin which is a protein that strengthens hair and promotes growth. Collagen can help hair grow faster, thicker, and shinier. Before taking any supplements always talk to your doctor first.
