You need to clean your hair brushes regularly to remove the build up that was removed when brushing. Brushing your hair is an important part of your hair routine. It is not only for detangling but it is also for removing build up on your scalp. Brushing your hair with a dirty brush is not going to allow your hair to stay fresh, meaning you will need to wash your hair more often. Read on for my quick and easy brush cleaning techniques.
Tip # 1 - Remove Hair Using A Hair Brush Rake
I use the Olivia Garden brush cleaner at the salon. It is quick and easy to use and is available on Amazon. I recommend removing hair from your brushes after each use.
Tip # 2 - Once A Month Deep Clean Your Brushes
After removing hair soak your brushes in a solution of hot water, shampoo, and baking soda for at least 30 minutes. Do not soak wooden brushes, only plastic.
Tip # 3 - Dry Brushes With Bristles Facing Down
After soak rinse brushes and dry with bristles facing down on top of a clean towel.
Tip # 4 - Replace Old Brushes
You should replace your hair brush if the bristles are bent, broken, missing, separating, or melted or if the bed has cracks. My favorite brushes are Wet Brushes because they make detangling easy and they are easy to clean. These pastel opal Wet Brushes are currently available at the studio.
This was a short one but I wanted to give a friendly reminder of the importance of keeping your brushes clean. I hope this was helpful.
Until next month.
Creatively, Jessalyn
